Tutorial #4 - Reports and Exporting
Getting data into Movie Label is the first
step but you will probably need to get data out
from the program sooner or later as well. Movie
Label offers the possibility to print a variety
of predefined reports as well as export to
formats such as HTML, XML and Excel.
Printing a View
You can print the information shown in a
view, exactly as it is shown in the program, by
choosing Print Preview from the File-menu. If
you perform a search, sort or customize the
view; the layout of the report will still be the
same layout and carry the same information as
the view.
Printing Reports
You can also choose to print one of the
pre-defined reports that are available in the
Reports-section. Choose Reports from the
shortcut section to get there. Notice that a new
toolbar will appear that can be used to print
and navigate the report.
Choose one of the reports that you want to print
and click the Preview-button in order to preview
the report. You can sort the report or click the
Advanced Find button to decide what data to show
in the report. The Professional Edition also
enable you to edit the existing reports or
create your own.
Defining the Layout of
the Export
The export field layout is defined by the
currently shown columns in the View. So if
Title, Tagline and Director are shown; those
fields will be included in the export, in that
particular order.
Expert Tip: If you perform frequent exports
you should create a view that has the layout of
this export. Then you can simply choose that
view before exporting (and you don't have to
re-arrange the columns each time).
