Tutorial #4 - Handling Digital Audio

Music Label 2008 integrates your digital music collection with the rest of your music collection. This makes it possible to, for the first time, display and search all your music through one interface. This tutorial guides you through the process of cataloging, handling and maintaining your digital music.

Cataloging your Digital Music
The first step you need to take is to let Music Label catalog all your music for you by searching your harddrive and possible MP3 CDs. Music Label has a Wizard that takes you through this process, you can simply click the New-button in the toolbar (when you are in the Music section) to bring up the Add Music Wizard.

When adding digital audio files; you can choose to have them attached to albums or to scan assorted files which wont be attached to any album.

Completing Information
If the tags of the audio file are incomplete; you can contact CDDB to download more complete information. All you need to do is to mark the file (or files) that you want to complete and then choose 'Update MP3 info using CDDB' from toolbar Data-page.

Browsing Digital Music Only
If you want to show only the tracks that have a digital music file attached, you can simply choose 'Items with associated files' from the Find All sub-menu in the toolbar.

Renaming the files
Files downloaded from the Internet often have complicated filenames containing comments and so forth. You can rename all the files in your collection by specifying a naming standard (using 'Rename MP3 Files' from the toolbar Data-page).

Creating Playlists
You can create and play playlists from your digital music collection by selecting the desired tracks and choosing 'Create Playlist Using All Selected Tracks'. Afterwards, proceed to the Playlist section to play the playlist in your favorite media player.
